Human Resources Generalist 3 - Madison State Hospital


Indiana State Government is actively seeking a Human Resources Generalist 3 to join the Indiana State Personnel Department and provide daily support to Madison State Hospital. This position will primarily provide support from the Madison State Hospital, but will occasionally float to the Madison Correctional facilities on a regular basis, as needed. This position is responsible for assisting the human resources staff in executing overall human resources functions within the agency.
Responsibilities:
The employee will provide assistance for day-to-day administration of human resources programs. The incumbent will serve as the subject matter expert for internal and external customers for purposes of maintaining consistent statewide coordination of HR processes, data and documentation. The HR Generalist 3 performs complex, specialized paraprofessional human resources functions requiring critical thinking, problem-solving, analysis and technical knowledge of human resources programs.
Provides information associated with processing all types of human resources documents to include the flow and approval of such actions;
Assists agency managers and/or division directors regarding decisions in those areas where interpretations of rules, pay plan, retirement benefits and insurance benefits is a consistent application of a standard method (e.g. amount of salary increase, method of appointment to vacancies, posting vacancies, interviewing);
Participates in the review and preparation of interview questions and may participate in the interview process;
Maintains results of candidate selection ensuring adherence to policies and procedures and documentation;
Provides professional assistance to higher-level human resources staff;
Assists with agency new employee orientation including ensuring that new employees fill out paperwork regarding policies;
Researches different projects received from the agency management and/or supervisor;
Utilizes Peoplesoft system to generate reports from the database;
Processes, investigates and monitors disability, FML and workers' compensation claims;
Updates and maintains agency organizational charts;
Counsels separating employees on exit matter;
Prepares a variety of reports including the OSHA 300 log;
Reviews requests for ergonomic and/or special needs equipment or accommodations;
Performs related duties as assigned.
Preferred
Experience:
Three (3) years work experience in human resources management including: compensation; benefits; employee relations; employment law; affirmative action; recruiting; or human resource development and/or retail management; plant management; field supervisory experience; or accredited college training in a related field.
To perform this job successfully, the candidate will need to possess broad knowledge of the principles, laws, regulations, theories and practices of human resources management and administration and extensive knowledge of specific human resources programs. The candidate should have a strong customer service orientation, a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity in handling employee/candidate information, and the ability to work well under pressure and must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
